The Hub Hierarchy
planCoo uses a clean, four-level hierarchy that maps onto how most large organisations are actually structured:
The top-level entity. One university, one enterprise group, one accelerator. This is where portfolio oversight lives.
A division, faculty, or business unit within the Hub. Departments group related teams and projects together.
A working group or project team within a department. Teams are where members are assigned and day-to-day work happens.
Member companies, partner organisations, and startups — invited into the Hub with their own company pages and project access.
This hierarchy is flexible. A university might use Hub → Faculty → Research Group → Partner University. A corporate group might use Hub → Business Unit → Project Team → Startup Portfolio. The structure adapts to how your organisation actually works.

Inviting partner organisations
A Hub admin can invite another company that already has its own planCoo license (BYOL) into the Hub portfolio. The invited organisation keeps its own company page, members, and projects. The Hub cannot edit their content. They appear in the Hub hierarchy, portfolio feed, and aggregated project view after they accept the invite.
That is how accelerators, clusters, and partner networks bring companies into one overview — without taking over the invited organisation’s account. Invites go one company at a time; the Hub does not create or license the partner for them.
Portfolio Feed and AI Reports
The Hub portfolio feed aggregates activity across all member projects and companies into a single chronological stream. Hub managers get a live picture of what is happening across the organisation without having to visit each project individually.
Combined with planCoo's AI reporting, Hub owners can generate portfolio-level status summaries — covering multiple projects, teams, and organisations at once. This is especially useful for board reporting, funder updates, and cross-department reviews.
